My new Phone from Vodafone

After having gone through a lot of trouble and endless customer care calls with Vodafone due to not receiving text messages from back home, i ported my number to 3, only in vein. I still wasn't able to receive messages from back home. Had to return my SonyEricsson XPeria x10 back to vodafone as well and was left with my barely working HTC Hero :( I then picked up a 3 sim only contract for the month of October and early November when i heard news on the 3 blog that the new HTC Desire HD was finally out for purchase. Since i was on a sim only cap i could easily cancel my account with 0 cancellation charges.

After i inquired with the 3/Vodafone store, they told me that the stock for 3 was over and they only had the Desire HD available on Vodafone. I asked them for a new Vodafone line but they had issues creating my new account because i had an existing contract with 3. Risking being stranded, with no mobile service for a day, i immediately cancelled my contract with 3. The customer care individual i spoke to was very helpful and did what was required. I got the case number off him so i could provide it to Vodafone to ascertain the cancellation and activate my new number. Received a call within the next 15 minutes, ran to the Vodafone store and Voila!!! There it was, sitting right in front of me, my new HTC Desire HD :) And lucky for me, since i have got the new Vodafone number, i have started receiving text messages from back home.

As the saying goes, two birds with one stone :P

My Birthday :)

The 7th was my birthday. No friends and family around so i was home alone on my laptop playing Mafia Wars on Facebook. Boring, i know, but i could not find any other way to kill time. My flat mate however got me a gift to cheer me up a little; a Tiramisu :) It brought a smile to my face and we headed out for some indian supper. Got back, got the Tiramisu out of the fridge and hogged away :P

Da most boring Diwali ever

This diwali has been by far the most boring one ever. Am stuck in Australia with no friends, no fireworks, no candles, no sweets, no family.. it sucks!!! Wish i was back home, at least i could go and watch fireworks happening in our area or just chill out with friends, may be a cup of coffe, may be dinner at a nice place.. so much for wishful thinking... :(

Halloween

This was my first Halloween party ever and it was held at the Swinburne Residences. Everyone was picking up their stuff to wear for the occasion while i was just lazing around in my apartment, intermittently studying for my upcoming exam. Well Last day, last moment, i went and picked up whatever bits i could to construct a costume of my own. I wanted it to be unique :)

Ended up picking up a Mime mask and a pair of gloves and dressed up as a Jabbawockee.

New look, New Beginning

Haven't written for a while now. After a lot of struggle, resigning from my job and the visa application hassles i landed in Australia where am pursuing my masters at Swinburne University of Technology.

Have been here for a month now, kinda like the place. Beautiful weather, clean blue skies, fresh air and beautiful ladies all over the place. I don't have much to do during weekdays since classes happen twice a week so i though of revamping my blog and getting back at writing. So here it is, my new blog, with a new look and a new name. Don't ask where it came from all i can say is it was a big mistake which ended up becoming "Me".

Shall write more soon

Career Crossroads...

All this while technology was my thing and it was all i wanted to do. I had lost interest in my job and put in my papers to quit, May 31 being my last day of work with my current company. What a relief i must say, felt like i should have done that long back.

Recently, however, i had a huge change in perspective and decided to take up my long put aside passion "ART" as a full time career. Being totally blank about the field i decided to contact a close friend and he guided me regarding the path i was to take if entering the field. I knew image editing tools were the base of today's amazing visual pieces of art and i needed to learn the skills to use them before i enrolled in any art school. Well in my last post i mentioned my Australian options, which i now chucked, to go to art school. The question was, which one?

In my quest for the best Art school that would suit my needs and career goals i fumbled upon Vancouver Film School, VFS for short. They offered courses that most suited my interests and they also offered a Foundation program in Visual Art & Design that would get me started and help me create a portfolio in my field of liking. I did look into other programs within the US and Canada but none were match to the one offered at VFS. So i contacted the school and received a call from an advisor in India that handled the admission operations for Asia and Middle East. She was kind and helpful and answered all my questions with regard to the course, visa formalities, prospects after graduation and other petty queries.

Well, there i was standing at a Career Crossroads changing my field from Tech to Art with a little to start. The admission process was pretty simple once i got my documents in place and mailed them across for validation. I recently received my full acceptance package after paying 5% of the fee and i am as happy as i can be to attend VFS, its like a dream come true because i am not only doing what i have always wanted to do but also doing it from the best.

I am currently gathering requirements for the visa procedures and will soon be sending them out to Abu Dhabi, then the long wait for acceptance / reject begins.
